Evatt Calisthenics currently offers the following classes:

            Tinies                         6 years and under

            Sub-Juniors             9 years and under

            Juniors                      12 years and under

            Intermediates          16 years and under

            Seniors                     16 years and over

The Australian Calisthenics Federation defines these age groups. The age limits are based on the age that the participant will be on the 31 December in the year they are competing.

Competitors are able to compete in an older section but not in a younger one. It is Evatt Calisthenics policy that all members compete in their appropriate age group unless there are extenuating circumstances. Both the coaches and committee will assess these cases individually.

Class Times and Venues (2008)

Tinies: Saturday 9.00-11.00am at Giralang Primary School
Sub-Juniors: Thursday 4.30-7.30pm at North Belconnen Baptist Church - Evatt
Juniors: Tuesday 5.00-7.30pm at North Belconnen Baptist Church - Evatt
Intermediates: Monday 5.30-8.30pm at Giralang Primary School
Seniors: Wednesday 6.30-9.00pm at Giralang Primary School

Teams are selected in each age group early in the year. The coaches endeavour to assess each individuals skill level and experience and place them in a team that will ensure their skills and confidence are further developed. Different teams learn different routines that take the ability and skill level of the participants into account.

Classes are run throughout each school term and towards competition times there may be extra classes scheduled. It is important that each team member attends all classes as routines are learnt and then detailed.

If a team member is absent this means that the whole lesson will need to be repeated. As you can appreciate, this often leads to the frustration of the coach and other team members.

Classes are carefully planned to ensure that all Calisthenics skills are being developed and each team is well prepared for competitions.

All team members should arrive at least 10 minutes before class is scheduled to start. This will ensure that they are able to warm up properly which will prevent injuries and will also enable the coaches to devote more time to actually teaching the class. All team members are asked to practice the skills and routines learnt in class regularly at home.

**Parents are asked not to sit in the hall during classes.**

We appreciate that you are interested in what your child is doing but Mum and Dad can prove to be somewhat of a distraction. Parents are encouraged to attend open classes that are the first class of each month.  If there is a reason that you have to stay at class please sit in the foyer of the hall.

The appropriate clothing for classes is a leotard, leggings or bike pants. In winter you can wear a crossover or a tight long sleeved top over the top of your leotard (available from Dancewear shops or Target)

Hair must be tied up and pulled back off the face for all classes. It should either be in a bun or ponytail. Fabric headbands could also be worn to keep hair off the face.

Clubs, Rod and aesthetic skirt must be brought to every class. If your clubs and rod are lost or damaged they will incur a replacement fee.

Water bottles should also be brought to every class, even in winter.  It is important to keep hydrated throughout class.

A flesh coloured body suit or high cut underpants must be worn  under all costumes at competitions.

Other essentials you may need to buy for competitions are fake eyelashes (Subbies and above), bobby pins, hairnets and stockings (stockings are available for purchase through the club).

Your coach will advise you of what you need to buy before the competition.
